WINERY
The Hermanns no longer know the exact year the first wine was produced at their vineyard. However, it is a fact that their great-grandfather Leonhard, in addition to farming, already enjoyed winemaking. Back then, around 1930, Pinot Noir was widespread in the vineyards of the Fläscher Halde. In 1975, Riesling-Sylvaner, Pinot Gris, and Completer were added. The foundation for an innovative winery had been laid.
In 1982, Peter Hermann produced his first vintage in Hinterdorf and, together with his wife Rosmarie, established the winery that exists today. The winemaking couple was always open to new ideas. They soon began experimenting with barriques in the cellar and planting additional grape varieties. Peter was the first winemaker in the Bündner Herrschaft region to produce Sauvignon Blanc.
Roman cultivates 6 hectares of vines on the Fläscher Halde. The largest plot is the terraced vineyard in Fläscher Bad, which was laid out by his grandfather Hanspeter during the land reclamation project in 1971. This historically old site is stony, steep, and steeped in history. People bathed here before the hot springs in Bad Ragaz were used.

ROMAN HERMANN
Roman Hermann was born in 1987 and had a green thumb from an early age, often with dirt on his trousers. For him, being a winemaker was a privilege. He completed his winemaking apprenticeship in 2006. This was followed by various stays abroad at renowned wineries: 10 months at Fromm Winery in New Zealand, 11 months at Willa Kenzie Estate in Oregon, 3 months at Weingut Friedrich Becker in the Palatinate region of Germany, and 3 months at Création Wines in South Africa. In the autumn of 2010, he began his training as a wine technician at the State Research Institute for Viticulture and Enology in Weinsberg, Germany, which he completed with distinction in 2013. Since January 2017, he has been managing the Roman Hermann Winery with passion and dedication.
